After a delayed arrival from the Comoros Island I met the group, Liz and David, Victoria and Simon, myself and our guide Jim Bond.
Bagamoyo. This is an important cultural site for Tanzania and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Famous for its slave and ivory trade it was the first capital of Tanzania under German Colonial rule until it moved to Dar Es Salaam in 1892.
Travel to Selous National Park
We left for the railway station for our departure at 0900. Quite civilized even if the seats were rather hard. Arriving at our 'station' (no platform) at 1325. Drove to our nicely set up camp and had a walk before supper (Impala Kebabs).
A circular walk around the camp with a stop for lunch. Saw two Lioness amongst other wild life.
Second walk
A lateral walk with a stop mid-day beside an interesting pool.
Third walk
Two walks with lunch at camp.
Fourth walk
After a drive to avoid the Black Cotton Soil we had a good long walk.
Fifth walk
A good walk to a lake before lunch followed by a short drive and then a long walk beside the lake.
Sixth walk
Drove a short way before walking beside the river to the Rufiji River Camp.
Safaris by boat and jeep.
